At the dawn of his career, Paul Rudd pulled a fast one on Ben Kingsley.
In an eye-opening revelation shared during a recent appearance on The Graham Norton Show, the 56-year-old Hollywood icon admitted to embellishing his resume early on by falsely claiming he had performed in a production of Hamlet directed by the esteemed Oscar-winning actor, Sir Ben Kingsley. In reality, Rudd had only participated in a brief masterclass led by Kingsley while he was still in school.
Rudd explained, "When I first got a manager, I had zero credits to showcase on my CV. However, I once attended an afternoon masterclass with Sir Ben Kingsley. My manager creatively interpreted this as me having played Hamlet in a production he directed. I constantly worried that Kingsley might one day come across my CV!"
Despite this humorous misrepresentation, Rudd's ascent in Hollywood has been nothing short of impressive. He made his notable film debut in 1995, starring in the cult classic Clueless and the horror flick Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Now, he’s set to blend comedy and horror in his latest venture, Anaconda—a clever meta-reboot of the 1997 thriller of the same name, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
In this new film, Rudd teams up with Jack Black, portraying two friends who embark on an adventure to the Amazon to create an amateur remake of the original Anaconda, only to cross paths with a real, gigantic, man-eating snake. Rudd shared his excitement about the project, stating, "Both Jack and I are massive fans of Tom Gormican’s previous work, especially The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. When this script arrived, it felt like it had the same clever essence, offering a unique comedic twist on a reboot. I was thrilled to be part of it, especially knowing Jack would be involved."
Jack Black, who joined Rudd on the UK talk show, revealed that he was eager to join the cast after learning that Rudd would play the quirky character Ronald 'Griff' Griffen Jr. Black described the film as "truly hilarious and absurd," noting, "I had never encountered anything quite like it. My primary motivation for joining was my desire to work with Paul, as he always cracks me up. I wanted to confirm his involvement before I signed on. When I read the script, I needed at least three standout moments that would justify the ticket price, and this film certainly delivers some unforgettable scenes.”
As the conversation progressed, it became clear that both actors share a genuine enthusiasm for this project, hinting at the potential for both comedy and thrills that audiences can expect.
