Currently, Google Wallet on Android only shows your 10 most recent tap-to-pay and Google Pay transactions from that specific device. Want to see more? You'll have to dig into a limited activity list, which, surprisingly, doesn't even include transactions from your paired Wear OS smartwatch. But here's where it gets exciting: the latest Google Play Services update (v26.01) hints at a game-changer – the ability to view all your transactions, across devices and even online purchases made with virtual card numbers. This means a complete, unified transaction history, right at your fingertips. And this is the part most people miss: Google already offers this full transaction history, along with search functionality, on the web version of Google Wallet (wallet.google.com). The update seems to be a logical step of bringing this robust feature to the mobile app, making it a more comprehensive financial hub.
But here's where it gets controversial: Will this move make traditional banking apps obsolete? With Google Wallet potentially offering a more seamless and centralized experience, users might find less need to switch between apps for their financial needs. Version 25.1.x of the app already includes code snippets hinting at the upcoming search functionality, further solidifying this shift. This update, once rolled out, will be available on both Android phones and Wear OS devices, though as with most Google updates, it might take a few months to reach everyone.
