Disney’s latest ship has set off on an exciting journey from Germany to the Bahamas, creating a buzz in the cruise industry! This impressive vessel, known as the Disney Adventure, embarked on its maiden voyage earlier this month and is currently making its way across the Atlantic Ocean, with plans to dock in Freeport around mid-January.
This remarkable 208,000-ton cruise liner was officially handed over to Disney Cruise Line in December. After its stop in Freeport, the ship will travel to Port Canaveral before heading to Asia for its inaugural season, where it will operate year-round short cruises departing from Singapore without making port calls.
Mark your calendars! The first official cruise will launch from the Marina Bay Cruise Centre on March 10, 2026. What’s fascinating about this ship is its unique history: it was initially commissioned by Dream Cruises under the name Global Dream. However, Disney Cruise Line seized the opportunity to acquire the ship while it was still being constructed at the MV Werften shipyard in Wismar.
With the renowned Meyer Werft now at the helm of this project, the vessel underwent a stunning redesign to incorporate Disney’s iconic themes and experiences. Passengers will be treated to various public spaces inspired by beloved Disney movies and characters, along with a plethora of family-friendly amenities.
One standout feature will be the seven themed areas aboard the ship. Among them is the Disney Imagination Garden, a whimsical space that combines an enchanting garden with an open-air performance venue, celebrating a century of Disney adventures.
But that’s not all! Disney Cruise Line has ambitious plans to expand its fleet even further, with four additional ships expected to join by 2031. These new vessels, which are also being constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, will include another Wish-class ship along with a new series of vessels.
Moreover, Disney is set to make its debut in Japan with an additional Wish-class ship, thanks to a partnership with Oriental Land Co., which promises to bring even more magical experiences to guests in the region.
