Next, focus on paying off all debt, except your mortgage, and build a savings cushion of 3-6 months' worth of expenses.
Ramsey highlights overconsumption and excessive spending as major contributors to financial struggles among young people. His solution emphasizes discipline and a written, detailed financial plan. He suggests cutting back on restaurant meals and saving that money instead.
But it's not just about individual responsibility. Ramsey also points the finger at major financial institutions, car companies, and lenders, arguing they've played a role in the debt crisis facing younger generations.
