New Year's Eve Extravaganza
Kick off the new year with a bang! Christchurch City Council's summer events kick off on December 31st with a bang, featuring two exciting parties in North Hagley Park.
NYE Kids Countdown
From 4-7 pm, the family-friendly NYE Kids Countdown is a fun-filled affair with games, live music, dance battles, and a special confetti countdown at 7 pm. It's the perfect way to ring in the new year with the little ones.
NYE25
From 8 pm, it's time to party like it's 1999! NYE25 brings you live music from Brad Staley, Dillastrate, and Kora, DJ Sambora's beats, and an epic fireworks display as the clock strikes midnight. It's a New Year's Eve to remember!
Go Live in the Gardens
On January 2nd, head to the Botanic Gardens Archery Lawn for a brand-new free concert, Go Live in the Gardens. Stellar* and The Mockers will perform live, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the picturesque gardens.
Pack a picnic, gather your friends, and immerse yourself in the sounds of Aotearoa's music scene.
Anthony Harper Summer Theatre
For a unique Christchurch summer experience, catch Rollicking Entertainment's hilarious 90-minute adaptation of The Lord of the Rings. Three actors and a musician bring Middle Earth to life, offering a comedy show not to be missed.
The Anthony Harper Summer Theatre series runs from January 9th to 25th, with evening shows at 7 pm and weekend matinees at 4 pm.
Summer Sundays
Three Summer Sundays in February (1st, 8th, and 22nd) bring you eight awesome bands at the stunning Botanic Gardens Archery Lawn. It's the perfect setting for a day of sun, shade, and live music.
Bring your friends and whānau, chairs or picnic blankets, your own food and drink (no glass), and maybe even your dancing shoes! Enjoy the live music from 1-4 pm.
Kite Day
On January 24th, it's time to paint the sky with color at Kite Day! New Brighton Beach becomes a canvas for creative sky-high displays, with cartoons, shapes, and more. Enjoy beach activities like swimming, sandcastle building, and picnicking.
Mitre10 Sparks: A Valentine's Day Delight
One of the most popular summer events, Mitre10 Sparks, returns with a special Valentine's Day theme. The Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and special guest artists present a dazzling night of contemporary and romantic performances, culminating in a grand fireworks finale.
Join us on February 14th at North Hagley Park for live music from 6:30 pm and the main show at 7:30 pm. It's a night not to be missed!
