He also highlighted the importance of nurturing future champions, acknowledging those at the beginning of their journeys. "My heartfelt congratulations to all our deserving winners," he said. "It is a privilege to share this moment with you."
But here's where it gets controversial... The evening's theme, "Dreams of a Champion," resonated deeply with the athletes. From their humble beginnings, these stars had dreamed of becoming World Champions, and tonight, those dreams became a reality as they held the coveted FIA Awards trophies in their hands.
In addition to the main awards, the FIA Rookie of the Year and Action of the Year awards, voted by fans across social media, added an extra layer of excitement. These awards recognized not just sporting achievements but also the impact on the sport and the lives of fans.
And this is the part most people miss... The FIA President's Innovation Award, a tribute to those who drive progress in motor sport, went to a legendary figure, Enzo Ferrari. His son, Piero Ferrari, accepted the award, joined by Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Ferrari marque.
Among the new awards was the FIA WRC of the Year, recognizing an organization's commitment to rally sport. In the off-road and rally world, Toyota continued its dominance, winning both the FIA World Rally and World Rally-Raid Championships.
